We’ll look at the joys of being at a birth and what it means practically for you and your day to day. We’ll explore the type of doula you might become and we’ll look at how you’ll go about developing your skills. Here you’ll find practical, honest information.
Abuela Doulas can help you decide whether to grab the keys and unlock the door to an amazing new adventure, or perhaps you’ll find it’s not for you and you just want to grab your rucksack and find another fabulous path.
Your Instructor
Mars Lord has been a birth keeper for over a decade. As well as being the founder and facilitator of Abuela Doula Preparation Course, Mars has had the privilege of working with hundreds of women.
Her work with pregnant women and their families has led her to speak at conferences and to lead workshops, namely Loving the Multiple Mamas and Cultural Competency.
She has had the privilege of speaking at Mumsnet's Bumpfest, the Doula UK Conference and Feminism in London.
Working with Birthworkers of Colour led to Mars founding Nyumbani kwa Mama (Mother's Home), a magazine style website for Birthworkers of Colour.
